Tim Guiles: Conversations in Tiny House

In 2008 Tim Guiles built two tiny houses based on Jay Shafer's "WeeBee" design (Tumbleweed Tiny House Co.); one for himself and one for his son. He was so enthralled with tiny house living that one year later he formed a company, and hired an architect to help him with the design of his first product, an 8'x18' tiny house on a steel car trailer called "Elegant Simplicity."

Tim and his partner, Kate, are now living in one of his tiny houses. George and Joan Packard, spent a couple of hours filming and talking with Tim in early January, 2011, in his tiny house, perched on the brow of a high field on his Vermont land. See this blog and others at Curiously Local.

A Different Path

A Different Path from IslandWood on Vimeo.

The 2012 film "A Different Path" tells the story of tremendous impact that IslandWood, a 501(c)(3) environmental education center on Bainbridge Island, has throughout our community.

When you picture the transformative experience that 4th, 5th and 6th graders have during the four day and three night School Overnight Program (SOP) and the year-long experience that the graduate-student instructors take with them to schools and other professions across the country, the total impact from IslandWood's ten-year history is truly incredible.

PLAN: The Post-Landfill Action Network

PLAN is a start-up nonprofit that helps college students create programs that reduce waste on campus. We provide start-up funding, leadership training, educational resources and discounts to help launch and support self-sustaining, student-led waste reduction programs in campus communities.

Our vision is a nation-wide movement of student leaders working together to build a post-landfill society where the very concept of waste is obsolete. Your support will help kickstart this project and allow us to reach a point of self-suitability in just a few years.

Check out the project and fundraiser page at: Post-Landfill
